Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone here has ever thought of baking Sabbat Cakes and Cookies of any kind for the Horned One that are, in any way, phallic in shape? (Ah...Yule always puts me in the mood for sacred baking!) ;o) You better believe that I've long thought of doing such! *EG* Maybe perhaps some yummy phallic gingerbread cookies iced in an appropriate manner (endemic of semen, and all). Heck, this Beltane I was thinking of making a Honey Cake batter including some pure rose extract, candied rose and violet petals, with a bit of cinnamon, and baked in phallic cupcake tins that are not only appropriately iced, but cream-filled!
Ah...what can I say, I have a passionate obsesion for the Horned One!!!
Hey, here's a curious question for ya'. Do you think heterosexual Pagans might be offended by being offered or served phallic cakes and cookies for the Sabbat? Would one openly refuse such? And, why?
Gods, I can't believe I'm thinking of Beltane already! Heh heh heh... Hey, I've found a great cookie cutter (if one Google's "Devil's Head" + "Cookie Cutter") that would be GREAT for Horned God cookies!
Geeze, there ought to be more of a variety of cake tins, cookie cutters, presses and molds of a Pagan nature, IMHO.
And, while I'm thinking about it, if anyone has any recipes developed for the Sabbats, or the Horned One, please share 'em! ;o)

Re: Cakes & Cookies for the Horned One...
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 1:30 PMI was living in a pagan household of about 11-15 people where we made a lot of phallic and yoni sugar cookies (can't remember if we got around ot the gingerbread or not, this was about 20 years ago now!) and most of the folks were straight. Straight pagans are a bawdy bunch, I doubt you would offend any of them. We hung some of the cookies as ornaments on the Tree. -

Holy Phalluses, Bat-Man!
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 5:36 PMYeah, that's what I initially thought, too, until I met some wonderful local Pagan friends (all of whom are straight) that were phenominally uncomfortable (save for one!) with the thought of phallic cakes and cookies of any kind. Actually, tey seemd a bit offended! And, the one heterosexual male amongst us has since left our "social circle", perhaps because he is so "straight laced" that he was incrredibly uncomfortable being around a Gay man! *sigh* That was a little heart-breaking.
Oh, and as soon as I can afford to buy a solstice tree of my own, I totally plan on making some cinnamon, sugar, or salt dough phallic ornaments-- I can't believe every Pagam abstains from this! When I decided I'd be buying some phallic cookie cutters, that was practically my *first* idea! Heh heh heh... In Rome they had huge stone phalluses which they kept about for good luck.
Take Care,
Wade
